The Asia-Pacific Ursuline Education Conference (APUEC) 2026 is an important event in revitalizing collaboration among Ursuline educational institutions in the Asia-Pacific region. The conference was held in Jakarta from March 2–6, 2026 and served as a space for reflection for Ursuline educators. APUEC 2026 carried the theme “Living Angela’s Spirit, Building Bridges for the Future.” Through APUEC, sisters, teachers, school leaders, and Ursuline education practitioners from different countries gathered to discuss various topics in the field of education. The agenda included educational reflection sessions, educator training, cross-country discussions, and visits to Ursuline schools in Indonesia as a means of sharing educational practices.
On Thursday, March 5, 2026, 25 APUEC representatives from Ursuline schools around the world (Cambodia, the UK, Taiwan, India, Thailand, Ireland, and Indonesia) visited the Santa Ursula BSD campus. The visit took place from 08:00 to 12:00. At 08.30 the 25 representatives arrived at the Santa Ursula BSD campus and were dropped off at the junior high school gate. Their arrival was warmly welcomed in the SMP-SMA Hall with a gamelan Bali performance by the junior high school students. Afterwards, the representatives listened to the opening remarks from the MC explaining the schedule of the day’s activities and the description of the welcome drinks and snacks prepared by senior high school students from the cooking extracurricular club. The welcome drink served was lemon grass tea. The welcome snacks included kue lumpur, kue mangkok, combro, sosis solo, and many more.
After that, the 25 APUEC representatives were divided into five groups to begin the campus tour at 09:00. Each group was accompanied by one teacher and one student. During the campus tour, the representatives visited the four school units on the Santa Ursula BSD campus: Kindergarten (TK), Elementary School (SD – Auditorium), Junior High School (SMP), and Senior High School (SMA). They also visited the hydroponic house, composting area, kitchen, and the SMP-SMA library. The order of locations for each group was different to avoid overlapping schedules. During the campus tour session, they were very enthusiastic, interested, and curious about the facilities available at the Santa Ursula BSD campus, which are very complete. They actively asked questions, took notes, and documented the visit. In my group, there were representatives from Thailand, Taiwan, and Indonesia. They were very active and enthusiastic throughout the campus tour. We shared many stories about the unique characteristics of our respective schools, such as the daily uniforms worn, the learning process, and project-based examinations.
The campus tour session for all groups ended at the Santa Ursula BSD Auditorium. At 09:45, the representatives were invited to go to the third floor of the Auditorium to attend the next series of events, which was watching performances by Santa Ursula BSD students. The kindergarten students performed a traditional dance called “Sipatokaan” from North Sulawesi. The elementary school students played degung, when the junior high school students played angklung. Both traditional musical instruments originate from West Java. Next, the senior high school students performed using the traditional musical instrument kolintang, which comes from North Sulawesi. Then, the choir group Los Pajaritos performed the song “Aleluia and Fidia”. Finally, the choir group Septem Stellarum performed the song “ Cantate Domino and Rise”
After the performances in the Auditorium, the APUEC representatives were guided by the campus tour guides back to the SMP-SMA Hall for lunch at 11:00. Before lunch, the representatives listened to an explanation about the food prepared by the senior high school students from the cooking extracurricular club. Keroncong music was played during lunch. Their visit to the Santa Ursula BSD campus concluded at 12:00. The representatives then said their goodbyes to continue the next agenda of APUEC 2026.
The visit of the APUEC 2026 representatives to the Santa Ursula BSD campus became a memorable experience for everyone involved. This meeting strengthened the bonds among Ursuline schools from different countries and provided a valuable opportunity to learn from one another and share experiences in the field of education. Through this conference, Ursuline schools are expected to continue growing as holistic educational communities that are intelligent and service-oriented, contributing to the education of the nation and becoming a blessing to the people around them.
