On Thursday, 12 February 2026, from 13.30 to 15.00, the Sanurian English Club held an inspiring and creative session with the theme “Love the Nature through a Poem.” The activity aimed to help students understand the basic theory of poetry and express their ideas and feelings through simple yet meaningful poems.
The meeting began with an explanation of the theory of poetry. The teacher introduced the definition of a poem, its purpose, and types of poem. Students learned that a poem does not always have to be long or complicated. Instead, it should express thoughts and emotions in a creative and imaginative way. Several examples of short poems were shared to help students understand how words can create strong images and feelings.
After learning the theory, students were invited to observe a living thing around them. They could choose plants in the school garden, small animals they noticed, or even their friends as inspiration. The purpose of this activity was to train students to pay attention to details, such as colors, movements, sounds, and feelings, so they could describe them vividly in their poems.
Next, students began creating their own short poems. They were encouraged to use simple language but meaningful expressions. Some students wrote about flowers, while others described nature, small trees, and so on. The classroom atmosphere was calm and focused, yet full of creativity and excitement.
At the end of the session, several students volunteered to read their poems aloud in front of the group. This activity helped them build confidence in speaking English. Overall, the English Club activity was both educational and enjoyable. Students not only learned the theory of poetry but also practiced observing, writing, and reading in English. The session successfully encouraged creativity, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty of words.
Here are the examples of students’ poems.
My 4 Seasons
By : Chloe Adiwinata
Wind and blue skies
Birds fly and flowers sway
Here I am, sitting by the bench
Waiting for you to pass my way
Summer arrives
And time flies
The Sun shines so bright
Like my life when you arrive
But fall is different
Not like the others
It's calm and quiet
Yet speaks the most in the back of my mind
And now it's cold outside
Though it's warm in my heart
The way we danced through the moonlight
Drinking hot chocolate with our favorite vibes
This is our story
This is our life
This is our memory
This is our light
This is who we are
And who we'll always be
Let it be recorded with time
The four best seasons of my life
Life from the eyes of the leaves
By : Eliana
Trees overgrown by moss
Like a hug after a loss
Warmth spreading all across
The breeze rattles the Trees
Flowers pollinated by the bees
Life must be easy, so carefree
Trees grow , nonestop
Recovering even after a chop
Giving shelter to all, even the birds who sit a top
